Service Dogs Change Veterans’ Lives

"Having Jazz is better than any medication I've ever been on, better than any amount of alcohol I ever drank. It's not just masking symptoms like medication sometimes does, it's actually making you open up and be vulnerable."

Nick + Jazz

"He gives me the day to look forward to, and I didn't always have that before. I feel hopeful that I can be successful in the areas I had struggled in before, and comforted when I would normally feel anxious or alone."

Scott + Nikki

"Our body may appear calm and cool but, on the inside, a storm is raging that seems impossible to survive. The service dog is the life vest in a flood, a storm shelter in a tornado, or a flashlight in the darkness."

Dodi + Diamond

"I was able to successfully grocery shop for approximately 45 minutes without feeling anxiety or having avoidant behavior... I was previously unable to do this without the assistance of my service dog... Ava offered emotional support and grounding by sticking close to my side and sharing affection during the slightest sign of anxious energy from me."
