The Stories Behind the Donations

"
Trigger gave me the courage to proudly admit that I was not perfect and that I had a diagnosis of PTSD, and that was ok. It was nothing to be ashamed of.
Rebekah, U.S. Navy Veteran, 20 Years of Service
"

Rebekah served 20 years in the Navy, including a combat tour in Iraq. When her teenage daughter became her unofficial caretaker at a crowded shopping mall, Rebekah knew something had to change. After being paired with Trigger, a rescue Boxer mix, through Northwest Battle Buddies, everything did. Her daughter got her teenage years back. Rebekah got her life back. Today she runs Triggered 22, an organization dedicated to Veteran mental health awareness, and she never stops spreading the message: stop surviving, start living.

"Having Jazz is better than any medication I've ever been on, better than any amount of alcohol I ever drank. It's not just masking symptoms like medication sometimes does, it's actually making you open up and be vulnerable."

"He gives me the day to look forward to, and I didn't always have that before. I feel hopeful that I can be successful in the areas I had struggled in before, and comforted when I would normally feel anxious or alone."

"Our body may appear calm and cool but, on the inside, a storm is raging that seems impossible to survive. The service dog is the life vest in a flood, a storm shelter in a tornado, or a flashlight in the darkness."
